MIKE JARRETT

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Mike Jarrett, a Bozeman native and President of Jarrett Builders Inc., has been in the building industry for over 30 years in the Gallatin Valley.   Mike’s ethics and his quality building practices have established him as a Montana builder of the highest reputation.  In the past few years, Mike has directed some of his energy into property management and insurance claims adjusting.  He has discovered there is significant demand for someone of his expertise to help people understand and solve construction issues, and to maintain their real property.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Mike started his career at a young age.  He worked at a local lumber yard starting in high school, and continued his employment there through his time at Montana State University.  After college graduation, he continued his work at the lumber yard, specializing in material estimation, building design and engineering.   Mike then decided to strike out on his own, and started building custom and speculative residences.  He is a Certified Graduate Builder, having completed necessary coursework in construction and business management through a program offered through the NAHB and MSU.  In 2008, Mike became certified in geothermal heat pump systems design and installation.  His homes have repeatedly been highlighted in the Bozeman Parade of Homes.

Mike has played an active leadership role in the building industry since 1998 when he became a member of the Southwest Montana Building Industry Association (SWMBIA).  Mike served on the Board of Directors starting in 1999, and served as president in 2005.  He played a significant role in membership recruitment, and has been a member of the government affairs committee, Parade of Homes Committee and Golf Tournament Committees.  He was a Critical Affairs Task Force member from 2003 until 2006, and was a key player in the settlement with the City of Bozeman over an impact fee lawsuit.  He joined the MBIA State board of directors in 2003-09 and has been extensively involved in legislative issues, health insurance issues and BuildPAC.  At the National level, Mike was a Director of the NAHB From 2003-2009.
