FINLEY PERRY

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Finley Perry is the founder of F. H. Perry, Builder, Inc, a residential general contracting firm specializing in sophisticated construction techniques and demanding project delivery. The firm serves the entire Greater Boston geographic area, building new custom homes, and undertaking all forms of residential restoration, renovation, and remodeling of existing homes. Now under second generation ownership, F. H. Perry, Builder recently celebrated its 35th year of operation. Mr. Perry has held multiple leadership positions in the Greater Boston, Massachusetts, and National Associations of Home Builders. He is experienced in all phases of residential construction including inner city single and multi-family luxury residential, and is particularly well-acquainted with the kinds of emotional pressures that arise in such work, Much of F. H. Perry, Builder’s success over its thirty five year history can be attributed to a cultural focus on fairness and trust, and Mr. Perry brings that imperative and perspective to the dispute resolution world as project consultant, advisor, and expert witness.

Mr. Perry entered the construction business in 1973 as a carpenter and craftsman. Over time, the business grew to the point where demand for his management skills far exceeded that for his trade skills, and the company evolved into its current management based iteration in 1989. Over its entire thirty five year history, the company has maintained a client-centric focus on craftsmanship and service, operating much as would a professional services firm with long-term repetitive client relationships. The company has built several new homes over the years, but much of its work – recognizing that creating a new home in the established communities within Greater Boston means renovating, remodeling, and restoring an existing architectural treasure -- has consisted of just that.

Mr. Perry has served his industry as:

  • President of the Builders Association of Greater Boston
  • Remodelers Council Chair for BAGB
  • President of the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts
  • Public Policy Committee Chair for HBAM
  • Member of the Executive board of the National Association of Home Builders.
  • State Representative for Massachusetts to NAHB
  • Remodelers Council Trustee for NAHB
  • Member of the Editorial Board of Architecture Boston magazine.

He has served his community as:

  • Member of the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Science, Boston.
  • Member of the Board of Trustees Walnut Hill School, Natick.
  • Chair of the Land Use Study Committee for the Town of Hopkinton managing the town’s position in the private sale of 750 acres developable land. He has also chaired the Hopkinton Board of Assessors, Hopkinton Economic Development Commission, and the Hopkinton Capital Improvements Committee, as well as serving on the Hopkinton Government Study Committee, and the Hopkinton Conservation Commission.

Mr. Perry is a graduate of Stanford University with a BA in Political Science.
He completed CDRS Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Training in May 2010

Mr. Perry is available for general consultation, third party project evaluations, workmanship reviews, cost studies, design reviews, dispute evaluation and resolution.
