PATRICK VANDERGRIFF

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Patrick Vandergriff has more than 35 years of experience in all areas of the construction industry having worked as a design/build contractor, city building official, community development supervisor and as Director of the Construction Industries Division of the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department and as a contract instructor, curriculum development and test development expert for the International Code Council (ICC). He is extremely proficient with all aspects of contracting, estimating, design and inspection and holds degrees in Business Administration and Engineering. He has taught classes and provided inspection services in all areas, including structural and non-structural plan review, building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, accessibility inspections, public works inspection and public works project management. He has also taught classes in Building department management and legal practices in code administration. Pat was ICC featured instructor from January-June 2007 teaching structural provisions of the 2007 California Building Code (CBC) and Structural plan review provisions of the (2007 CBC) throughout the State of California

He has worked on projects ranging from very small to multi-billion dollar projects throughout the country. He performs nationwide plan review services, provides cost value analysis and expert witness services on large projects for architects, engineers, project owners, attorneys and insurance companies.

He has worked in code development and curriculum development for most of his career and is keenly aware of the historical information related to building codes and construction projects. As an ICC instructor, he has been the instructor for as many as 180 days of code and code enforcement related classes per year in forty eight states. He is consistently one of the highest ranked instructors for the ICC. He also taught classes for various contractor associations, American Institute of Architects (AIA) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) groups throughout the country.

He has provided third party test verification, working closely with major corporations and nationally recognized testing agencies, and has an extensive background in field development and testing for materials seeking product code equivalency approvals. He has also worked on development of alternative methods and materials testing for verification of code compliance.
